Contact Improv class this Sunday September 15th
will be taught by Nicole Bindler and Gabrielle Revlock

Location: Headlong Studios, 1170 S. Broad St. (near Broad/Federal SEPTA
1 to 3 PM, every Sunday, $10 drop-in
Please arrive in time to dress and be ready to go at 1pmOpening ourselves
to our dances and the space through vocalizations.
Gabi and Nicole will teach a class on suspension, small catches, and lifts
using momentum rather than muscle. We will refine our reflexes, sharpen our
senses, and use our breath to support us in dynamic, unpredictable dancing.

Nicole Bindler's performance work and teaching have been presented at
festivals and intensives throughout the U.S., Canada, Argentina, Europe,
and in Tokyo, Beirut, Bethlehem, Mexico City, and Quito. Her dances have
been supported by the Pew Center for Arts and Heritage, Leeway Foundation,
Puffin Foundation, Foundation for Contemporary Arts, Pennsylvania Council
on the Arts, and the Ellen Forman Memorial Award. Bindler holds a BA in
Dance and Poetry from Hampshire College, a degree in Muscular Therapy from
the Muscular Therapy Institute, and certificates in Embodied Anatomy Yoga,
Embodied Developmental Movement and Yoga, and Practitioner of Body-Mind
Centering® from the School for Body-Mind Centering®. She has been on
faculty at Temple University, University of the Arts, and the University of
Pennsylvania, and has guest lectured at Drexel University, University of
Wisconsin, Milwaukee, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Hameline
University, Arizona State University, Tempe, University of Texas, Austin,
Goldsmith’s University, St Mary’s College of Maryland, Moore College of Art
and Design, and Ursinus College. Her writing on dance and somatics has been
published in Critical Correspondence, Contact Quarterly, Emergency Index by
Ugly Duckling Presse, Jewish Currents, BMC® Currents, Curate This, Journal
of Dance & Somatic Practices, Somatics Toolkit, and thINKingDANCE. She
currently serves on the Earthdance Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Gabrielle Revlock is an internationally-performing dancer/choreographer
working out of Philadelphia and New York. Her work depicts complicated but
relatable interpersonal relationships, developed through meticulous
character study and improvisational structures. Described by the press as
inventive, rambunctious, and mesmerizing her work has been presented at
American Dance Festival, JACK, Gibney, FringeArts, Joyce SoHo, Barnes
Foundation, Art Omi, Center for Performance Research, New York Live Arts,
Kelly Strayhorn Theater, Seattle International Dance Festival, Philadelphia
Dance Projects, ODC, Velocity Dance Center, Dance Place, Public Theater,
Provincetown Dance Festival, and Annenberg Center for the Performing
Artsamong others. Teaching engagements include Fabric Workshop and Museum,
American Dance Festival, Barnes Foundation, Abrons Arts Center, and The
Philadelphia School. A practitioner of contact improv since 2003, Revlock
has studied with Nancy Stark Smith, Tim O’Donnell, David Brick, KJ Holmes,
Chris Aiken, Angie Hauser, and Kathleen Hermesdorf among others. More at
