For *Sprout! A Full Length Not-A-Ballet*

---> to be performed as a part of the Philly Fringe Festival 2019

Sep. 12-15 (8pm shows Thurs-Sat, Sun 2pm matinee)

at Panorama (near Bartram’s Garden)

Who are we looking for?

Joyous creatures and dancers with training in ballet, contemporary and/or
modern dance. This will be a full-length (approx. 45 min) choreographed
piece. Level similar to an intermediate contemporary class. Choreography
will be contemporary but will also have big gestural storytelling elements
(oh and a few puppets).

What is the show all about?

A Sprout pops up out of the ground in early spring, and loses a precious
leaf in the process. Shocked, it uproots itself and journeys on. 7 dancers
(that’s you!) and a live band of musicians take to the stage to dance and
sing the tale of the Sprout’s search for love, friendship, and “the
answers”. Sprout! lives in a world of surreal creatures, animate objects,
boisterous play, and sweetest sorrow. Together with a band of swamp
dwellers and an accordion lover, Sprout takes on life, loss, and being
(not) human.

What do rehearsals look like?

Rehearsals begin mid July and will be held approx. 2x a week in the
evenings (5:30-7:30pm or timing as needed) with and without the musicians
until the show. Dress rehearsal Sep.9. Exact rehearsal dates TBD. Dancers
will be compensated.
