The Performance Garage's HubChats are relaxed group dialogues focusing on relevant topics for dance artists. For this iteration, thINKingDANCE writers guide you through the ephemeral art of translating one's experience with movement into language.

The panel will include:

Kat J. Sullivan is a dancer, choreographer, and writer currently based in Philadelphia. Her work has been shown throughout Philly and New York, including Koresh's Come Together Festival (PHL), the Triskelion Arts Comedy in Dance Festival (NYC) and the Philly Fringe Festival. Kat has performed with several noted Philly companies, most recently with the experimental movement and sound platform <fidget>. Her teaching credits include Temple University, the Dance Center at PSCA, and compositional improvisation labs. She graduated with a B.A. in Dance and a minor in Anthropology, as well as the Excellence in Choreography Award, from Franklin & Marshall College in 2014. Kat works as a writer and member of the Communications Team for thINKingDANCE and a writer for Broad Street Review. Her other artistic endeavors and collaborations include an ongoing photography + dance project with photographer Paul H Taylor and various pick-up projects with other artists in Philadelphia.

Lynn Matluck Brooks, withdegrees in dance from University of Wisconsin and Temple University, founded the Dance Program at Franklin & Marshall College in 1984. A Certified Movement Analyst and dance historian, she has held Fulbright, NEH, and other grants. Brooks has edited Dance Research Journal and Dance Chronicle, writes and edits for thinkingdance.net, has choreographed many dances, and has authored several books and many articles.

thINKingDANCE is a consortium of dance artists and writers who work together to provide critical coverage for dance, to build audiences for dance, and to foster the art of dance writing. Based in Philadelphia, thINKingDANCE increases visibility for local dance, encourages new forms of dance writing, broadens the scope of dance coverage in our city, and increases audience receptivity to dance.
