Murphy for a 5 days of hands on training. Learn the cutting edge science
behind Dynamic Neuro-Cognitive Imagery (DNI) as applied to dance
performance and education. Focus will be on developing mind body
connections that enhance technique and performance. You’ll learn how
imagery impacts the body in movement, increase your understanding of

Eric Franklin is the founder and director of the Franklin Method. He
created the Method over 25 years ago, first teaching in Switzerland,
Germany and Austria and further in the USA, China, Japan and many other
countries. He earned his BS from the University of Zurich and his Bachelor
of Fine Arts at the New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. Eric
teaches at universities and schools throughout the world including the
Juilliard School in New York, Rutgers University, the University of Vienna,
the Royal Ballet School and the Laban Center in London. He has taught
Beyonce’s & Celine Dion’s world tour dance companies.  In 1998 he
introduced the first dance conditioning methodology to mainland China.

Eric presents his work at numerous conferences, such as the World Congress
for Lower Back and Pelvic Pain, the Pilates Method Alliance and the
International Association for Dance Medicine and Science. Eric Franklin is
author 21 books, including of Dynamic Alignment through Imagery (2012),
Dance Imagery for Technique and Performance (2013), Relax your Neck –
Liberate your Shoulders (2002), Pelvic Power (2003), Inner Focus, Outer
Strength (2006) and Beautiful Body, Beautiful Mind (2009). Eric Franklin’s
books have been translated into German, Italian, Spanish, Polish, French,
Czech, Chinese and Korean.

About Shannon Murphy

Originally from Youngstown, Ohio, Shannon Murphy is dance artist and
educator living in Philadelphia. Shannon has studied with Eric Franklin for
over 10 years and is now one of his first US/English speaking faculty
members. She specializes in Franklin Method for dancers, teaching workshops
to professionals and guesting at many University dance programs. She is the
Body Pathways Curricular Head at University of The Arts where she has been
an adjunct professor since 2013, teaching contemporary studio practices,
Body Pathways, and Franklin Method. As an adjunct professor, she often
teaches at Bryn Mawr College and Drexel University and was the Assistant
Director of Drexel Dance Ensemble from 2015-2017. Shannon is deeply
committed to providing her students with the tools that they need to
discover efficiency and expressivity and support the development of
responsive, dynamic bodies. She is both an independent maker and a
co-director of idiosynCrazy productions alongside founder, Jumatatu
Poe. Shannon is currently an artist in residence at the Whole Shebang where
she teaches professional level technique classes and is developing a new
work.  Her work has been presented nationally and throughout Philadelphia
including AUX Space, The Barnes Foundation,  Bryn Mawr College, Drexel
University, FringeArts Festival,  Kelly Strayhorn Theater’s newMoves
Contemporary Dance Festival, Koresh's Come Together Festival, Philadelphia
International Festival of the Arts (PIFA) and RealLive People Presents.  As
a freelance performer, Shannon is currently working with Jaamil Kosoko. She
has worked with many dance artists/companies, including: anonymous
bodies||art collective/Kate Watson-Wallace, Charles Anderson/ Dance Theater
X, Group Motion Dance Co, The Naked Stark, Nichole Canuso Dance Company,
Jumatatu Poe, SCRAP Performance Group/Myra Bazel, and has performed works
by Peggy Baker, Boris Charmatz, Wally Cardona, and Rennie Harris.
