*Workshop and retreat description:*

*“For those of uswho were imprinted with fearlike a faint line in the
center of our foreheadslearning to be afraid with our mother’s milkfor by
this weaponthis illusion of some safety to be foundthe heavy-footed hoped
to silence usFor all of usthis instant and this triumphWe were never meant
to survive."*- audre lorde*, a litany for survival *

How do we as movement practitioners train and strengthen the mind and body
to resist oppressive structures and systems? How might tools of self care,
personal meditation, and pyshic choreographic systems support and prepare
us for site based and/or theatrical radical performance making? How does
the teaching of theory promote new systems for intellectual simulation and
understanding. With this workshop Jaamil Olawale Kosoko shares personal
practice, vision, and strategies for performance making, community
organizing, healing, embodiment, and play, exploration, and pleasure
through a series of group conversations, readings, and body based
exercises. Participants are encouraged to bring questions and works to
share that they are willing to unfold within a group environment.
