Heather Cornell returns to Philadelphia to lead a improvisation
workshop focusing on world rhythms and percussive dance. Students will
be immersed in Heather's singular teaching style, which is focused on
musicality concepts: feeling the pulse and groove of world rhythms in
our own bodies and feet, exploring rhythmic improvisation and how to
become our own innovators and creators of rhythm. There will be group
improvisation and polyrhythms. Ideal for any mover at any level in
dance, yoga or theater!

Heather Cornell is one of the most innovative and deeply musical tap
artists working on the scene today. From 1985-2004, Heather Cornell
directed Manhattan Tap, one of the busiest and most successful tap
dance companies of the period. With her home base in New York, she
worked with some of the most famous jazz musicians in the world and
pioneered an approach to tap choreography that has been called "visual
music." Currently, she tours internationally mentoring students,
teaching the connections between tap dance and music, and headlining
at tap and jazz festivals around the world. In 2016, she released her
first album, "Making Music Dance," a collaboration of original music
using tap shoes, violin, balafon and guitar.
