NextMove Dance Presents
Parsons Dance, under the artistic direction of David Parsons, recognized worldwide for its joyful, athletic, and eye-catching choreography impeccably performed by his virtuoso dancers, perform December 7-11, at the Prince Theater 1412 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA. on the NextMove Dance Series. Highlights include a world premiere, two Philadelphia premieres and three of Parsons' signature works including Caught, his stroboscopic masterpiece.
Performances take place Wednesday, December 7 at 7:30pm; Thursday, December 8 at 7:30pm; Friday, December 9 at 8:00pm; Saturday, December 10 at 2:00pm and 8:00 pm; and Sunday, December 11 at 3:00pm. Tickets are $20-$60 and can be purchased in person at the Prince Theater box office, by phone 215-422-4580 or online at http://princetheater.org/next-move. $10 Student Rush Tickets are available day of show one hour prior to curtain at the Prince Box office with Valid ID.
A limited number of ½ price Community Rush Tickets are available in person at the Prince Theater Wednesday, December 7 from 4:00pm-5:00pm. This offer is available for Wednesday, Opening Night 7:30pm Performance ONLY and cannot be combined with any other offer.
The Machines, a world premiere by Parsons, is set to music by John Mackey features six dancers and sophisticated robotic drones. Created in collaboration with engineers from the ExCITe Center (Expressive and Creative Interactive Technologies Center) at Drexel University under the direction of Dr. Youngmoo Kim, this work explores the evolution of man and machine
Finding Center (2015) a Philadelphia premiere; Hand Dance (2003); Caught (1982); In the End (2005); Almah (2015) choreographed by Katarzyna Skarpetowska, Parsons' lead dancer from 1999-2006 and named by DanceMagazine as "One of the 25 to Watch" in 2016
Parsons dancer Ian Spring will be conducting a free Parsons Master Class on Friday, December 9 at 1pm at Drexel University Ellen Forman Studio located in the Mandell Theater complex at 33rd & Chestnut Street..
