Fore-ign/ Fore-out, is a split bill by 4 Philadelphia choreographers, Evalina Carbonell, Nikolai McKenzie, Melissa Chisena and Annielille Gavino-Kollman. The works presented will investigate themes of immigration, gender definition, universality, rebirth and cycles of humanity.

Chisena Danza will be presenting two works for this split bill.  The first work,  "Entrapment", about manipulation, constraints, and surrender, was first premiered for An Evening of Duets this past February.  The piece is a duet danced with  Marie Brown, along with a very large full-bodied skirt, custom made by Costume Designer Patricia Dominguez.
Secondly, Chisena will be performing my signature solo "Breath", accompanied by Breath-work artistKatonya Mosely and Philadelphia based musicianJonathan Cannon.  "Breath" is a collaboration that fuses together movement, an original breath score, and percussion to create a journey through the many elements associated with breathing.  This powerful and riveting piece has received astonishing reviews and has been presented in Philadelphia, Norristown, Ursinus College, and Richmond, VA.

Evalina Carbonell will be premiering her newest work, “Matriz,” as a part of this excitingshared evening of works.  In, “Matriz,”the choreographer and her expressive dancers speak physically to the cyclicalnature of life which embraces us all, crossing the boundaries of language, time, and cultural heritage.

Annielille Gavino-Kollman’s “La Migra,Lets Run” is a dance theater work investigating personal journeys ofmigration. The title “La Migra” is aslang referring to U.S. border patrol officers. The title and work focus onimmigrant fears of unacceptance and humanity's near universal proclivity forracial prejudice

Nickolai McKenzie ‘s “Boy” is a look into the mind, dreams, and storiesof a boy in transition from youth to maturity, from ignorance to light. Usinghumor, grit, and unapologetic physicality and vulnerability, “Boy” is an exploration of time and theexperiences that shape a young person’s life.
