teaching a modern/contemporary class you don't want to miss!

Class Description: Frank's class will consist of numerous approaches and
styles to fully engage the mind, body and spirit. Frank will use
traidtional modern technique, release technique, and improvisation with a
focus on the dancer's individual expression. Frank will use inspiration
from many different styles of dance to emphasize his belief that a
well-rounded dancer makes a well-rounded person.

*About Frank: Frank Leone was born and raised in Westchester, New York. He
attended Point Park University where he obtained a BA in dance with a dual
concentration in jazz and modern. While in school, he had the opportunity
to perform works by Bill T. Jones, Ohad Naharin, Randy Duncan, Terrence
Marling, Dwight Rhoden, and many more. Other educational programs include
San Francisco Conservatory of Dance and Parsons Dance. After graduating in
2014, Frank joined Norwegian Cruise Line as a production dancer/aerialist.
Following that year, Frank moved back to New York and was given the
opportunity to work with shawnbibledanceco, Valerie Green/Dance Entopy,
Roschman Dance, and Zullo/RawMovement Frank now resides in Philadelphia and
is thrilled for his first season with KYL/D!*

*Saturdays: CHI Awareness Technique with Kun-Yang Lin from 12:30-2:00pm*

*About his class: Lin's signature CHI Awareness Technique is the
foundational technique for Kun-Yang Lin/Dancers (KYL/D). It explores the
spaces where Western dance forms including ballet, modern, post-modern and
hip-hop meet the impulses of Eastern philosophies, including Taoism and Zen
Buddhism. The class focuses on how, through modulation of breath (or "chi",
in Mandarin), weight and weightlessness co-exist simultaneously and energy
seamlessly transitions among explosive bursts of rapid, expansive phrase
work, and absolute stillness. Class begins quietly and gradually builds in
complexity, culminating in dynamic phrase work. CHI Awareness Technique
expands the perimeter of Western dance practices through an Eastern
perspective that reflects Lin's conception of dance as the ultimate
integration of body, spirit and mind. *
