We are less than two weeks from our first show in Philadelphia.
Please join us!

This is Malcolm Shute. I direct the modern dance company Human
Landscape Dance and we are holding free performances in Philadelphia
parks this July.

Human Landscape Dance will perform Rituals of the First Year at Clark
Park from 12-2pm on Saturday July 12 and at Liberty Lands from 1-3pm
on Sunday July 13. Admission is free. Find out more at http://
www.hldance.org .

Human Landscape Dance examines the relationship of body with
environment. By setting our work in public spaces--against a wall, in
the grass, on a sidewalk--we reveal the hidden beauty of those places
we pass every day. We bring dance out of the theater to reach people
who would not ordinarily come across it.

Rituals of the First Year is a set of four dances about the
experiences of a new parent. In this first year of my daughter's
life, I continue to discover more about my role as a father. One of
the rituals that our company explores is talking through touch, the
primary means of communication with a newborn. We go on to practice
bonding and separating, and carrying and falling. We hope that,
watching, you will be struck by something you remember as a parent or
as a child. Admission is free.

Photos of Human Landscape Dance are by Jennifer Mueller. They are
posted online at http://www.flickr.com/photos/hldance .

Please pass this around to as many people you know who may be
interested in seeing some innovative dance under blue skies.

Thanks!
