The Amici Opera Company, with a remarkable cast of nine singers and eight flamenco dancers, brings to life the story of Carmen, an irresistable gypsy woman surrounded by magic, mystery, seduction
and manipulation. The company has just completed several successful performances of Carmen in Philadelphia and now takes the show to Atlantic City.

Part of the Bad Girls of Summer Series,
at Dante Hall Theater for the Arts in Atlantic City, Bizet's CARMEN is the classic story of the femme-fatale.

Rafaelle Tudisco, founder of The Amici Opera Company, directs this most beloved opera with Reese Revak as Musical Director and Tomas Dura as choreographer.

Award winning, and critically acclaimed, Rafaelle Tudisco has made history this
year with his performance in Verdi's Falstaff, marking his 100th
operatic role. In addition he has now successfully performed every one of Guiseppe
Verdi's 26 operas. Few if any singers in the history of operatic music
have ever accomplished this milestone. And it is this passion and drive
that Rafaelle has poured into the hardest working (11 months out of the
year with almost 20 operas performed) and extremely powerful opera
company. Rafaelle Tudisco performs the role of the bullfighter, Escamillo. Jessica Kasinski portrays Carmen with Bohdan Chaplynsky as Don Jose.

Choreographer Tomas Dura and a fiery group of dancers fill the stage with flamenco at
every possible opportunity - the famous Habanera and Toreador Song, the
Gypsy Dance, the Entr'acte to the Third Act, the
Entr'acte to the Fourth Act and the entire festive scene of the Final
Act. It would be hard to find another production of Carmen with as much intricate footwork, castanets and swirling skirts and fans.

French composer George Bizet wrote Carmen in 1874 with a libretto by Henry Meilhac and Ludovic Halévy, based on the 1845 novel by Prosper Mérimée. The dramatic impact of the work shocked and stunned the audiences at it's first performances. Bizet died shortly after believing that his opera had failed. It has become one of the most popular and respected operas of all time.

The show takes place at DANTE HALL THEATER OF THE ARTS, 14 North Mississippi Ave. in Atlantic City on Saturday, July 12th at 7:30pm. Tickets are $20. For information call (609) 344-8877.
