My name is Ana Maria Alvarez - I am the founder and Artistic Director of the
Urban Latin, non-profit, dance theater company called CONTRA-TIEMPO (
www.contra-tiempo.org) - we are based out of Los Angeles and we are doing
exciting Salsa based work that is being called the "new face of dance in
LA". In our work we deal with issues of immigration, race tensions, and
redefining concepts and constructs of gender - I would love to share our
work with the Phillie community. We will be in New York (performing with NYC
City Parks Foundation/Summer Stage) and DC (at Dance Place) this summer and
would LOVE to add Phillie to our tour line up for that week. We would need
to perform sometime during the week of August 10th - 15th to make it work
and I know that is smack in the middle of the Phillie Fringe - possibly
doing some community master classes as well.
