ANNOUNCEMENT*
Look for a whole new Dance Calendar design coming soon to
PhiladelphiaDANCE.org. The new design will be more intuitive to use, add RSS
feeds, social networking tools to share and promote events, ability to
import to Google & Yahoo Calendars or even Outlook, an online mapping tool
and even event registration. This will also directly feed to all major
search engines. In addition, filtering capability will allow for one
calendar for performances as well as workshops and master classes, so you
can view it all at once! With a little luck hope to launch in June or July
at the latest!

WHY BOTHER WITH ADVANCED ONLINE TICKET SALES WHEN YOU CAN DO CASH AT THE
DOOR?

*1. You can actually collect and retain data about your audience as well as
develop a mailing list for future events. With cash sales, you do not
necessarily have a complete registration of who came to your event. With
online advance sales you can collect name, address, phone and email. You can
then use the email list to conduct follow up surveys of your event and start
to generate interest for events in the future. When an event happens again
approach those who purchased last time

2. Ability to take credit cards online in advance means more sales. It also
offers greater convenience to your customers. **One advantage the Internet
offers is instant gratification. Users like the ability to buy something
and have it immediately. Online ticketing is available 24/7 regardless of
location. Another convenience of online ticketing is that users don't have
to wait in line at the venue!

3. Advanced ticket sales guarantees an audience. If you have paid for a
ticket in advance you are more likely to attend an event. Cash only at door,
allows a potential customer to be lazy ("Just don't feel like going out
tonight") or to be distracted (attend another event).

4. Advanced ticket sales allows you to judge potential attendance and house
size for your event.

5. Added value can be combined with a discounted ticket to offer an
additional incentive to purchase tickets online. Special discount coupons
can be created for mailers and promotions. Why not offer a great coupon
for the purchaser courtesy of one of your sponsors?

6. Data collected from online ticketing purchases can be used to gauge
marketing impact. You can quickly determine if one type of advertising
outperforms another.

7. Customers are used to buying tickets online in advance! This is how most
sporting and theatrical events are sold. It is a business model that works!
