2008 UMFUNDALAI INTENSIVE-AFRICAN DANCE WORKSHOP SERIES
Please join the community and Kariamu Welsh for the 2008 
Umfundalai Intensive-African Dance Workshop Series. This 
exciting workshop series is designed to provide quality  
holistic African Dance Instruction to educators, students, 
professional dancers and enthusiasts!
 
This year's experience includes master classes, lectures and 
more!

*FREE classes for youth up to age 14 
 
*Beginner to advanced dancers are welcome 
 
*Classes in injury prevention and drumming

*Master class with Kariamu Welsh, Creator of the Umfundalai 
Technique

WHAT IS THE UMFUNDALAI TECHNIQUE?
Umfundalai is a Pan-African dance technique that draws on 
movement and dance styles from throughout the African 
Diaspora. The word "Umfundalai" means "essence" 
or "essential" in the Kiswahili language. The technique was 
created by Dr. Kariamu Welsh in 1970 and stands the test of 
time as a unique and beautiful expression of African culture.

WHEN: 
Friday and Saturday, June 6 and 7, 2008

WHERE: 
Temple University, Philadelphia, PA
Pearson Hall (Corner of Broad and Montgomery Streets)

COST: $17 per class, $30 for two classes, $46 for three 
classes, $90 for two day all inclusive package, $5.00 
observance fee.
