MOVEMENT & VOICE WORKSHOP/The Power of Transformation
1-3PM
This workshop is open to people all ages who like to sing and dance.
The workshop will concentrate on each individual's power of expression
through dance and voice. All levels are welcome to engage in a creative exploration
of our physicality using voice and body. The workshop will offer warm-up
exercises, group improvisations and small “performances” to share with each other.
MEET THE ARTIST 7:30PM
In a special PDP Meet the Artist Ellen Fisher will talk about her work as
well as show video excerpts which demonstrate how she interweaves film and live
performance and works with “transformation” through the aid of props and
costumes. She will include some video footage from her documentation of trance
and healing dances of Sri Lanka.
She will also perform 6 short dances some, purely movement based, others
using simple props, shadow-play and puppets. The music compositions are by Mimi
Goese and Ben Neill, Frank Maya, Graham Fitkins, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Hearn Gadbois
and Rachel Loshak. The evening offers an opportunity for audiences to learn
more about Fisher's explorations in performance and engage in conversation
with the artist.
