Hey folks:
I want to tell you about my current show. I’m really excited about it. 
It’s called Roosters by Latina playwright Milcha Sanchez-Scott. I fell in
love with this play when I first read it; it has only been since I came to
Theatre Exile that I was able to direct it.  We use live music and
Capoeira to tell the story.  It’s really engaging.

General Admission $25-$30
Artist tickets are $15 - on the phone or at the theatre

Theatre Exile presents Roosters by Milcha Sanchez-Scott, directed by
Deborah Block

Roosters is a beautiful and violent story of a father’s return to the
roost after seven years in jail for manslaughter. When a boy needs to
become the man of the house, what happens when his father returns? Father
and son engage in a blood dance not only over the ownership of the prized
cockfighting rooster, but also over who is now the cock-of-the-walk.

Roosters explores familial issues through archetypal characters with a
distinct Latino voice that utilizes fantastical visions, gritty
naturalism, live music, the dance-martial art form Capoiera, and that
fierce edge that makes Theatre Exile one of a kind.

The Denver Post declared Roosters, “...at once passionate, violent and
magical,” while the New York Times said Ms. Sanchez-Scott spins "a tale -
both comic and poignant - of domestic emotional violence."
