Auditions for MALE/FEMALE DANCERS for the Koresh Dance Company

Koresh Dance Company is looking for MALE and FEMALE  DANCERS for the 2008-09
season. The audition will consist of learning selections from the company’s
repertoire.  You must provide a résumé & either a headshot or a dance photo.
**The Koresh School of Dance offers a ballet class at 11:30am. This is not
required. 

 

  Dancers must have a strong technical background in ballet, jazz, and
modern. You must relocate to Philadelphia if offered a position. Typically a
30-34 week touring season.

TWO Master Classes
Jussi Nousiainen (The Netherlands) to teach master class at Koresh School of
Dance.

 

After graduating from The Theater Academy of Helsinki and working briefly as
a freelancer dancer and choreographer in Finland, Jussi Nousiainen moved to
central Europe where he danced in companies such as Charleroi Dances, Galili
Dance and Frankfurt Ballet. He also has worked with several choreographers
such as Itzik Galili, Ohad Naharin, Paul Selwyn-Norton and Stephen
Shropshire. 

 

This class will be contemporary with elements from several techniques. It
will work with vertical ideas and supple back movements, with directions and
support of gravity, release and strength of the center. This class is
recommended for intermediate through professional levels. 

 

This class is FREE for anyone, but space is limited. Please register at the

Master Class with Robert Battle, Artistic Director of Battleworks Dance
Company 



 

Wednesday, April 9, 2008 from 6-7:30pm

 

Cost is $20 per student. Class cards are not accepted for this class. Space

Robert Battle, Originally from Miami, FL, Robert Battle is a graduate of the
New World School of the Arts and the Julliard School, where he received the
Princess Grace Dance Scholarship and the Martha Hill Prize. Upon graduation,
Mr. Battle joined the Parsons Dance Company (1994-2001), and began setting
his own work on the company in 1998. Parsons has performed his choreography
across the United States and internationally, and featured it in several New
York City seasons. In 2001 Mr. Battle founded Battleworks Dance Company, and
the company premiered in August 2002 at the World Dance Alliance’s Global
Assembly in Düsseldorf, Germany. Selected as the American representatives to
the festival, the company was chosen for its unique outlook on the future of
modern dance. Battleworks has performed in New York City and across the
country at such venues as The Joyce Theater, Dance Theater Workshop,
American Dance Festival, and Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival.

 

The Hubbard Street Repertory Ensemble, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater,
Ailey II, River North, Introdans, Koresh Dance Company and PARADIGM have all
commissioned Mr. Battle for both new works and re-stagings of Battleworks
repertory. Mr. Battle regularly conducts residencies at Universities
throughout the country and teaches master classes in NYC and abroad. In
2005, Battle was honored at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts with
a medal proclaiming him one of the “Masters of African-American
Choreography” and he has recently been honored with the coveted Princess
Grace Statue Award for achievements in choreography
